Finding Inspiration...

have you ever seen work of someone and thought to yourself: "that is inspirational and all, but it does not tell me everything i need to know." Feeling put in second place because you lack information how to achieve a goal/work/art. Not knowing "all necessary" steps, drags you down and is essential that part where many people will lose interest or focus may it be creative work or else.

So if there is an inspirational Work that let's you go up in your head and heart but drags you down by the realization that you lack a certain tool, a certain step that only professionals seem to have?

let me try to give you a little help and maybe an answer for that.

there is a very nice Blog that illustrates the works of a creative person being a freelancer himself and working mostly now in the 3D-Area, preferably Cinema4d. It is called greyscalegorilla.
What sets this blog apart from many "collections" of creative work or just mentioning creative works, is, that the "Gorilla" (he named himself) does a lot more than just showing off.
He shares knowledge in Tutorials that of course is not a special thing anymore today, but the details, those tiny changes he does to a work separates a beginner from an experienced Artist in the digital age.

Not only does he show new Ideas he shares and even gives responses depending on the issue.
For example there is the 5 second Project:
in this Contest everyone can participate and make a 5 second animated short depending on the theme given by the Gorilla. Not only does he say who won but he really says why he picked the winner out of the contest-entries.
This brings a lot of feedback that is often asked but rarely given by the creator of a contest himself. Kudos to Nick for that awesome always reaccurring contest.

For a total inspirational fun you should check out reelroulette.
On this site you can find douzens if not hundreds of reels from uknown artists and check out their reels.
What really sets this site afar from any other site where you can upload your reel: it shows random reel after random reel. This emulates very realistically the view that personel have when given out one or more jobs where young artists try to apply to.

in the end it comes for experience and (Nick mentions this himself a lot in his tutorials) even if the stuff you do does not look professional and super-artsy. What is essential is getting you to find your workfllow and you way of working with the tools you have been given.
This does not however exclude you from finding inspiration for your works.

and he uploads his classes that he does occasionall about how to keep creativity and how to get to the goal wanted. you should really check out his blog.

Now what did inspire me to write about Nick's Blog?

let's just say he awoke my joy in experimenting in 3d anew :-)
